Mitchel

“She'll come through.”

I spoke up while watching Tramaine leave the kitchen. I looked back up at Miyra and saw the death glare that she hadn't broken from the direction Tramaine was just walking.

“She always come through for you.”

I spoke up again causing Miyra to look my way. I offered a smile and she forced a small one back.

“I thought that too. Until last time.”

“Come on. How many Saturdays has she missed? That was one time.”

“Well that one time is a lot when I barely see her.”

She turned to look out of the window and a light chuckle escaped from her mouth.

“When did you mow the lawn?”

“When you went to the store to get everything. You though I forgot, huh?”

I got up from my chair.

“Nope. You always come through for me.”

“And she will too.”

I walked over to the window and tossed an arm over her shoulder. She turned to embrace me in a quick hug before pushing me away.

“Didn't you say you were working out?”

“What you tryna say?”

I lifted an arm and playfully sniffed my armpit before jumping back when she swung the dish towel at me.

“Ew! Get out of here with that! Being unsanitary in my kitchen.”

I laughed while making my way toward the kitchen's exit.

“And Miyra?”

“Yeah?”

She paused as we made eye contact.

“Today's our Saturday. Relax.”

“I'm relaxed.”

She sounded as if she was trying to convince herself more than me. I nodded and walked out of the kitchen, heading for the front door. I stepped out on the porch and placed a hand behind my head while finishing my water. I bent over and sat the empty bottle next to my feet then stood up to see a car zoom pass the house. I locked my fingers as I rested my hands on the back of my head and smirked.

The car came to a quick stop and reversed in the same speed as it zoomed by. The car swerved into the driveway and the driver's door opened before the car was put in park. A leg hit the ground and a hand held the door for a minute before Constance climbed out with her keys and purse in her hand. She smiled while slamming the car door without looking back.

“Hey.”

I nodded at her and she threw up a hand while walking toward the house.

“Hey.”

I followed her hand toward the truck in the driveway beside her car.

“I can't believe he beat me here. I know he is driving poor Miyra up the wall. How long has he been here?”

“You know it. Not too long. About 15 minutes at least. I guess almost everybody showing up early today.”

“Everybody is showing up early today.”

She corrected me while walking up the steps and reaching out for a hug. I pulled her into a hug and pulled away to follow her hand that swiftly pointed over her shoulder.

“You standing up there like you cute or something. You think you cute, white boy?”

Malorie shouted from the car while leaning against the passenger side door. I laughed and glanced at Constance who had a smile on her face.

“Look who I found.”

“Look who you found.”

I replied back as she walked over to the porch swing. I looked back toward the driveway to see Malorie walking up with one hand in her back pocket and the other playing in her hair.

“Where you been hiding?”

“If I tell you then it would no longer be a hideout. Huh, white boy?” She shot back while reaching out and running her hand down my chest. “But when did you start getting cute?”

“Technically we are all brothers and sisters.” Constance spoke up from the swing.

We looked over at her kicking her feet up on the swing when the rock caught a good rhythm. I chuckled while Malorie removed her hand from my chest to point at Constance.

“I'll see if you're still preaching that sermon when I climb into your bed tonight.”

She and I burst out laughing at the same time as she walked up to the door. Constance dropped her head back while laughing then shook her head while speaking.

“You're sick.”

“Am I?” Malorie questioned while leaning on the door.
